Again

I had fun with last night's shirt-inspired post, so I thought I'd do it again.  Tonight's shirt is lime green.  Yes, I know it's 2 green posts in a row, but it's March, so green is appropriate in my opinion.  And since it's my blog, my opinion is the one that counts. :-P

These are just weird.  Pick a style, people!

Practical and cute.  Always awesome.

It rarely rains here, but if I lived in Seattle I would have a collection of rain boots, including these.

Yep, these are bright.

Why oh why won't the hubby wear crazy shoes?

I want to see this ballet based just on these toe shoes.

Another option for my imaginary colorful canvas tennie collection.

Holy buckets.  That is all.

Here is my question for the day:  Why does running errands with the hubby always take so crazy-long?  On Friday we were going ONE place.  FIVE hours later we finally got home after going EIGHT places.  Today he asked if I wanted to ride with him for a quick errand.  I was smart and took my Kindle so I could read in the car while he drove to four different places.  We were only gone a couple of hours this time, but I'm always fascinated and slightly appalled at how is "short" trips never are.  Somebody want to get a grant and do a research study on this one for me?

Mint Green

Tonight's (this morning's, actually) post is inspired by nothing more complicated than the color shirt I'm wearing.  Which, if you read the title, you know is mint green.

b

I will take one of each, please.  These were fun to look through because it reminded me of my mint green phase.  I had mint green jeans at one point.  I also had a mint green skirt and top (thanks, Mom for making them!) that I wore with a pink tank top, wide, pink, ruffly belt, and pink flats.  I was adorable, if I do say so myself.  I'll have to look for pictures of said outfits.

How was your Sunday?  Mine was both lazy and busy.  Lazy this morning as we slept in and then stayed in bed for awhile while we called both sets of parents.  Busy because the rest of the day was spent doing various types of paperwork (hooray for the taxes being done!) (and somehow the list from Hell manages to keep getting more complicated).  But now it's Monday, which means I should go to bed so I can actually function the rest of the day.

Hodge Podge

Today was a lovely and interesting day. Lovely because it was 75° and we ate lunch outside. Interesting because I ate steak for the first time without gagging (not sure how the hubby accomplished that), and because we went to a bbq with some friends tonight and I was totally relaxed and social the whole time. Not once did I have to find a quiet spot and be myself for a minute. These things are probably signs of the apocalypse, so don't say I didn't warn you. The puppies also went to the bbq with us. It was their first away from home social event and I can't believe how well they did. All in all a good day.

Since I was actually busy being social and eating red meat, I'm going to let the Pinterest Friend be in charge of the shoes tonight.

Didn't she find a fun and eclectic assortment for us? She's awesome.

Actually, only the first 4 are from the PF. The last one, while from Pinterest, is from a friend from seminary who now lives in New Jersey. She's also awesome, and high on my list of people I would like to be like when I grow up.

We'll, I've already sprung my clocks ahead and now it's time to snooze. Good night!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa

Today was my Grandpa's (mom's dad) birthday.  He was born in 1906, so if he were still living he would have been 109.  Sadly he died 25 years ago, which seems crazy.  I was 14 when he died, so he's been gone from my life a lot longer than he was in it.  I wish I could have known him as an adult.  In honor of his birth, tonight's post is all about shoes from 1906.  They're all women's shoes because frankly they're more fun.  Men's shoes from that time are pretty much just black and basic.  So, no offense to my grandpa, (I don't think he would be offended (although he totally would have acted like it and pretended to be really grumpy)) but tonight's shoes will be ones he wouldn't have worn.  Of course, he wouldn't have worn them regardless as he was an infant at the time.

As always, I don't guarantee 100% accuracy that these are all actually from 1906.  The internet says so, but you know how reliable that can be.  Having said that, they definitely are similar enough that I believe they're all from around the same time.  You won't be surprised to know that I like them as I've said that about this basic shape before.  Hmmm...I wonder if my Great Grandma had any shoes like these?  I've only seen pictures of her, but as a kid I thought she looked like my grandpa with a bun, so I can't quite picture her wearing girlie shoes.  And now I've possibly offended 2 generations, so it's time to wrap this up.

Just one more.  These actually say they are from 1908, but it's close enough, and they look like the ones above.  Also Grandpa died on February 24th, so the date was too close to pass up.

Love you, Grandpa!

Pixies

Today was busy-ish.  It started with a trip to Auto Zone (always super exciting), involved phone calls to insurance companies, errands to the bank and library, and the always thrilling allergy shots.  It also involved lunch with a brassy, sassy and hilarious Octogenarian from St. Someone's as well as coffee with SKD.  Tonight as the hubby and I were hanging out after dinner I was looking through some old pictures and came across some from a series my aunt took in my grandma's garage when I was a kid.  The auntie was a Pixie photographer when I was growing up, which mostly meant to me that she led some kind of awesome and exotic life traveling all over the place.  I'm guessing she would probably describe it somewhat differently.  In honor of the awesome and exotic pixie-auntie, we have pixie shoes:

Sadly pixie shoes are the same as elf shoes, and we've already done those.

But there are also shoes labeled as pixie for various reasons.  I like these colors.  I kind of even like the shoes, but I still don't think I can pull this type of booty off.

Awww...baby pixie/elf shoes are adorable.

Hmmmm...Apparently pixie shoes are multicolored suede?

Why yes. Yes they are.  I would love these if I thought I had any chance of keeping them clean for longer than 5 minutes.

The theme continues!  These are weirdly awesome.

Oh!  This picture still goes with the theme, but even more awesome is that these shoes are the closest I've found to the ones I had in high school that I loved, just different colors.  Refresh your memory here if you want to and have a moment.

Fun shoes and nostalgic pictures.  Good times.  And speaking of pixies...

...could I have been any cuter?

A-Maze-Ing

Last weekend the hubby wanted to watch The Maze Runner.  I read the trilogy while I was in Montana and enjoyed it.  I never have hugely high hopes when it comes to watching movies based on books that I've read.  This one was OK, but I didn't like as much as the hubby did.  I know, I'm a book snob, but I wish screenwriters would at least try to stick to the story a little more than they normally do.  The hubby liked it so much he decided to watch it again tonight.  You know what?  It didn't follow the book the second time, either, but at least this time he let me tell him what's different in the book, so I felt a little better.  And it gave me a topic for this post, so there you go.

Of course a fan out there painted some shoes.  I'm going to pretend these are based on the book, not the movie, because snob.

I wish these were a different color.  I kind of like them, but want them to pop a little more.

The tennie version!  These actually make me a little dizzy.

See?  A color is more fun!  Still a little dizzy, but not as much.  This one is for you, green peeps!

Baby maze shoes!

Kid maze shoes!  It's a family affair!

First, this is a labyrinth, not a maze.  I'm sure you knew that, but I didn't want you to think that I was confused.  I do know the difference.  I had to include this picture because it's so cool.  Now I'm thinking instead of giving my shoes to the Goodwill I should start making a labyrinth in the backyard.  I could have a spiritual experience with my shoes!

My sinuses are mad at me today, so I'm thinking it's time for bed.

Chalupa

I soooo don't want to talk about life. Too complicated, too personal, too annoying. Let's talk about puppies instead. SDK expressed her concern that Chalupa might get a complex since Tallulah got her own post. But really, have you ever tried to find Chalupa themed shoes? Not good. So we'll have to go a different direction:

Even so there aren't that many shoe wearing boy chihuahua pictures. Rude. These guys are cute, but I still think my guy is the most handsome.

He's also super sweet when he's not being a total spaz and trying to kick is in the nose or mouth. Hopefully he will be satisfied with his post. Actually, he loves anything as long as he can lick it, so I'll just let him kick the hubby 's iPad...
