Cheery

I haven't been posting much lately.  Partly because I've been doing other things and don't always remember, but mostly because I'm having blogger's block.  Nothing seems interesting to write about right now.  I went to the allergist today.  Whoopee.  I bought laundry detergent yesterday.  Wow!  I bathe dragons on a daily basis.  (OK, admittedly that's kind of an interesting sentence, but you already know about it, so whatever)  I have a mound of laundry that needs folding.  Yuck.  I need to clean bathrooms.  Double yuck.  See?  It's not interesting.  And yet here I am typing about it.  So I shall stop and we'll look at some shoes.  No theme, here really, just shoes that make me smile, which is always nice.

OK, so probably the theme was turquoise, but since shades of blue are pretty much the theme of my whole life, it hardly seems worth mentioning.

Red Polka Dots

I haven't posted lately, so this calendar page is several days old, but I just had to share.

These are horrible.  They're made from PVC.  It's not surprising that I hate them as they're Melissa and I haven't seen a pair I liked yet.  If you like them please tell me why so I can gain a new perspective.  In the meantime, I need to redeem red polka dots.

Much better.  Kind of retro.  Very cute.

Ooooh...ankle straps!  And a little green for you crazy green lovers out there.

I need these for Valentine's Day.

I want to like these better.  They're navy blue!  I love blue!  And I don't hate these, but I like them less than the ones above.

These are more than a little odd.  Interesting, possibly cute, still way better than the first pair.

Casual polka dots!

Holy crap this is cute.  Totally redeems red polka dots for me.

These are vintage.  I wish I could see the heel.  The toes are cute, though.

OK.  I feel better now.  I mean, I have a massive headache (again), but I feel better about red polka dots.  Guess I'll take what I can get.

Yikes

So, while it's true that I've been plenty busy the last few days (I head to bed around midnight thinking, damn, I didn't post again), it's more true that my brain has been consumed with thoughts other than shoes.  I know!  I can't believe it either.  Well, I can.  So here's the thing:  I need to get a job.  I haven't worked since February last year.  I've never gone this long without a job of some kind, even if it's just part time.  The hubby and I are doing better, but we could use the extra income just to get us all the way back healthy financially.  When I was in MT I had a phone conversation with the bishop and I was totally ready to go back into the call process and find a new church.  Then I got back home and my confidence got shot all to hell.  Then my brain starts swirling around: if I don't go back to the parish, what will I do?  What CAN I do?  My brain swirls are not helpful.  They are very responsible for shooting my confidence all to hell.  I've had about 10 people tell me lately that I should think about being a teacher.  As a kid that's the career I was convinced I would have, but now I'm not sure of that either.  Blah.  Does anyone have a job they would like me to do?  Babysit your kids?  Sit on your couch and read?  Help you pick out some awesome shoes?

To ensure that this post isn't just depressing whining, here is a cute pair of shoes:

Thanks again to the PF for always finding me cute shoes.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go figure out if I can't get my brain to stand still for awhile.

Projects

Since Christmas is now long over I can shoe you the projects I was working on while I was in Montana.  There was definitely a green theme.  My parents got new living room furniture last summer, and as Mom's favorite color is green, there's several fun shades of that color.  Her old furniture was blue, tan, and red plaid, so I made her an afghan to match.  That afghan definitely does not go with the new furniture, so I told her I would make her a new one to match her new furniture:

It was a really simple pattern, just double crochet for the entire body and then the fun, lacy border.  I wrapped it up and Mom opened it on Christmas morning, but as she knew I was making it I didn't hide while I was working, just sat in the living room.  I finished the border at the seester's so at least there was a little surprise.

The other project I worked on was another t-shirt rug, this one for SKD.  Her favorite color is ALSO green, so I used all green t-shirts, donated from me, Mom, Dad, the seester, and the brother.  It was a family effort.  I swear every shirt was green, but when I added them to the rug they somehow became every color but green.

Thankfully she likes it, because it turned out a little weirder than I anticipated.  It is currently living in her laundry room, as you can probably tell.  Yeah, I still think it's weird.  Sorry, SKD for making you another weird Christmas gift!

Green crochet projects obviously lead to green crochet shoes:

I think these are baby shoes.  They look like baby shoes, right?  I love the details.

Definitely baby shoes.  How cute is that plaid button?

I want these for summer.  With a fun, bright dress.

Heehee.  These just make me smile.

These are cute, but not with the tights.  They're slippers, so why are they with tights?  Are they supposed to actually be boots?  They still don't go with the tights.

These are definitely slippers.  They would be perfect for St. Patrick's Day.

I like these?  I keep going back and forth.

Hey look!  You can have matching booties with your baby.  Unless that top pair are really for adults.  I like the matching concept better, though.

The last few days have been busy-ish.  I can't say exactly what has kept me busy enough that I haven't posted, but it seems like I've gotten a lot done.

Finally I will apologize if this post is completely odd and random, but I've had the monster bitch headache from hell all day and my brain is a little fuzzy.  Time to take the monster bitch to bed.

Random Searching

Sometimes when I can't think of something to post about I start to google random phrases and see what images pop up.  Tonight was one such night.  I was thinking about the day, which started with taking the hubby to the dentist.  For some reason we both thought it was just a scheduled cleaning, but it was really a 3 hour visit for fillings.  Not just any fillings, though.  These had bands that wrapped around 2 teeth and were inserted UNDER the gums.  *Shudder*  My visit was much more enjoyable as I went and got Starbucks and then sat and read in the waiting room.  I definitely got the better deal.  So, my random search tonight was for Starbucks shoes.

Running shoes.  Probably for running off all of the lovely calories in a typical latte.

Interesting.  Might be fun to wear if you were an employee.

These are actually cute.  Green and stripey for all of my green girls!

That search led me to think of my brother's favorite coffee:  Death Wish Coffee.  Yes, he is odd.  They don't have shoes that I saw, but they do have hats, which my brother has and which Double A and The Bean totally covet.  They are odd, too.  Thankfully they aren't allowed to drink this particular coffee.  They're hyper enough.

These are Venti shoes.  Kind of cute, huh?  See what happens when you randomly search?

I can't remember what I'd typed in when this came up.  But it's cute, and I could drink my coffee from it.  Any maybe eat some cupcakes.

Good night.  I must go to bed and have random dreams like always.  Maybe they'll at least be about shoes this time.  Or cupcakes.

White White White

White seems to be a bit of a theme of my week. First the hubby is a big fan of bleach.  I've used more bleach since we got married than in the entire rest of my life.  I can appreciate certain aspects of it for cleaning, but it's not my favorite, and what really annoys me is that I keep getting bleach spots on my clothes.  No mater how careful I am I never seem to be careful enough and I have gotten bleach spots on way too many articles of clothing.  Like I said, I can appreciate some things, like how white and clean it gets the hubby's stinky t-shirts (heehee).    Yesterday, for reasons to boring to relate, I had to drive the hubby's Mach 1 Mustang.  It's a white car.  It's a stick shift and actually kind of fun to drive, but it also makes me extremely nervous.  It's the hubby's "baby" and I'm always afraid I'm going to breathe on it wrong or something horrible will happen and he'll completely freak out.  Finally, also yesterday, the hubby and I were having a conversation and I said, "I'm all about that base," which he found absolutely hilarious because of how I absolutely can't pull that (or many) phrase(s) off.  He says I'm the whitest person on the planet.  Come on...really?  The whitest?  Yes, I'm crazy pasty, but there has to be other people who are whiter than I.  Mr. Rogers?  My grandmother?  I do admit to being pretty darn white, though.  Silly man, always rubbing it in.:-)

Moving on.  White shoes!

See?  White doesn't have to mean boring.  Some of these are fun, right?  A little whacky, like the cowboy boots above or the leaf shoes further up.  I can live with whacky, though.

PS--you do realize that much of this post is tongue in cheek, right?

Video Games

I don't know why I was thinking about video games today.  I don't play them, and have never been good at them.  Maybe because the hubby was talking about the playstation today (we don't have a playstation, we have an xbox--he never gets that right).  Even if I did play I don't think I could master the controller for that thing.  There are approximately a million different button combinations; just watching the hubby play makes my fingers cramp.  I'm more of a word game kind of girl, I guess.  Certainly not good with the hand-eye coordination.  Anyway, we're going to look at some video game themed shoes with games from my childhood.

Space Invaders shoes for the whole family!  My brother had an Atari, and used to play Space Invaders.  The graphics were basically nonexistent, but there also wasn't blood shooting all over the screen.  I played a little when he would let me, but I could only manage the really sloooooow rounds.  I'd totally wear the shoes, though.

Mrs. Pacman (apparently Pacman himself is too manly to be on shoes).  Those darn ghosts got me every time.

And Super Mario Brothers.  This is the one I tried the hardest at once the Atari was replaced with the Nintendo.  I got fairly good at a few levels, but my brother always used to laugh at me when I would make Mario jump because I would use my entire body as if it would help.  I prefer to think that I was simply way ahead of the Wii and it's body motion controls.  I can't remember which level always got me, but now that I've found the shoes and written this paragraph that stupid theme music is stuck in my head.  I HATE that theme music.

Let's just say I'm better with shoes than video games.  I could wear video game shoes, but can't actually play them, and I'm OK with that.  The Nintendo was really only my friend for playing Jeopardy and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.  Ooooh...I should totally be Carmen Sandiego for Halloween this year!

Red shoes!  Fun hats!  Awesome trench coats!  And 10 months to attempt to squeeze into all that Lycra.  Yikes...
